Happy New Years!

God has truly blessed us in 2010!  It has been a year of change and miracles!

I guess it really hit me on Christmas morning when I received a hat from my parents.  It was one of those hats with the brim all the way around it.  I had asked for it so that my bald head wouldn't get burn while we are on the mission field.  While I was looking at it, something inside of me said, "You have no use for that here, this hat is for Guyana."  It was like fireworks went off in my heart!  It's Go Time!  God has laid the path before us and the time to begin this new ministry is coming closer!
Please help us ring in the New Year by getting on your knees and praying for the Carib people of Guyana, and for us as we prepare to minister to them.  We would like to keep you informed of what is going on so starting in January we are going to be doing a six week blog series on the Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How, of our journey.  Keep checking in to hear what God is doing or how you can help.

Praises:
1. God has connected us with a missionary who lived in the town we will be living in, there in Guyana.
2. The house we will be living in will be rented to us for only $150/month.
3. We received a free copy of the Jesus Film in the Carib language.
4. We are at 13% of our financial goal!
5. We only lack $370 to complete our start up budget.
6. Our hearts are growing more in love with the people of Guyana, which we hope to meet in 2011!

He Reigns!!!

Christmas is the time of year when we celebrate the birth of our Savior.  The God of Heaven and earth humbled Himself, taking on the form of a human, being tempted as we are, yet He was without sin.  He was bruised for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities, and the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him.  But, Hallelujah!, HE LIVES!!!

Its easy to think of baby Jesus in the manger.  However, we musn't forget: He will return.  He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords!  Though we may not bow right now, upon His returning every knee will bow and every tongue will sing His praise!

John paints a glorious picture for us in Revelation 7:9-10: 'After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could number, of all nations, tribes, peoples, and tongues, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, with palm branches in their hands, and crying out with a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!"'

Its easy to think of the baby Jesus in the manger.  But consider another picture of Jesus as John again describes in Revelation:  'Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse.  And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and makes war.  His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns.  He had a name written that no one knew except Himself.  He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.' (19:11-13)

Praise God for coming to earth this Christmas.  Praise Him for being the Author and Perfecter of our faith.  Praise Him as the Wonderful Counselor.  Praise Him as the Prince of Peace.  Praise Him as the Comforter.  But don't forget to praise Him as King of kings and Lord of lords!  Don't forget to praise Him as Almighty God, the Holy One!  Don't forget to praise Him as the Lion of Judah!

Thank you, Jesus, for who You are.  You are a Great King!  I pray You reign in our hearts and our lives each and every moment.  May You be glorified and made great among the nations.

Merry Christmas!!!

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”

God is Faithful

We have officially raised God has officially raised 10% of our budget!  What a praise!  Thank you to those who have answered God's prompting to give financially!  Thank you to those of you who are praying for us along this journey!  It sounds a bit daunting to say that we have 90% left to raise--but I am encouraged despite the number.  While we are doing the legwork of "partnership development," God is doing the heartwork.  As long as we are being faithful to our Lord, He will be faithful in return.  He has called us to this task--raising prayer and financial support for this OneStory mission and going to fulfill it--and He will see us through.  What Love!  What Hope!  And what a Great God we serve!  Can I get an AMEN and a HALLELUJAH!?!

Why we must Go!

"For “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?"  Rom. 10:13-14

In the world today there are approximately 7,000 languages and dialects.  Of those, 2,200 languages do not have one single verse of Scripture.  That means 350,000,000 people have no way of knowing John 3:16.  (To put that in perspective: if you laid those 350 million people head to toe around the equator of the earth, they would wrap around it over 14 times)

That breaks the heart of God!  That breaks our heart too!  And I hope it breaks your heart as well!

Salvation has been offered to every one of those 350 million, but how can they be saved unless "someone tells them?"  Lindsey and I want to follow God into the darkness of Guyana, South America to work with the Carib people.  The Carib people are an unreached people group living on the Guyana/Venezuela border.  We will be translating 30-50 stories from the Bible into the Carib language.  They will be able to hear of the saving love of God for the first time!!!!!!!

Please partner with us!
1.  We need a lot of prayer.  You can click the link at the top of this page and sign up to be a prayer partner.  Remember, "...The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results." James 5:16
2.  We need financial support.  You can click the link at the top to sign up to be a financial supporter.  We have to raise 100% of our support before we can go to Guyana.  This is a huge task but the great thing is, OUR GOD IS BIGGER!
3.  If you feel God leading you to become a missionary, we would love to talk and pray with you.  Don't just settle for the American Dream, God's dream awaits those who seek Him.

In short, we must go!  God has put the call on us and we are answering!  Thank you for being apart of this special time in our lives!

Equip Training

Jason & I are currently in Orlando, FL training to be missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators.  We are one week down and one to go.  All the people we've talked to, the presentations and stories that we've seen and heard, have really fueled a passion in my heart for Bible translation.  I've learned that there are over 400 English translations of the Bible, but there are still thousands of languages that don't have even one single verse of Scripture in their language!  What a precious gift we have been given in having the Word of God in our own heart language that we know and understand.  I'm excited to be a part of taking the Word of God to the Carib people in Guyana, South America!  It will definitely be a God-sized adventure as He provides all our needs along the way!
